. I had seen these paintings hundreds of times and they had particular meanings and memories attached to them--of places I painted in, of people who were around at the time. I tried in this project to see my old work in a different light, as a means to re-discovering myself through re-reading them from the perspective of experience and transformation. I cut up these old canvases and re-arranged the pieces, adding new elements or combining them with newer work. Through this process, it was as if I got a "second sight" of the work which had created me (and not the other way around). This repetition helped me to find a new way of understanding my past and its relation to the present.
