This is an oil on canvas with some heavy impasto and fine detail from 1983. It is a landscape with a river oxbow, which doubles as a snake in the grass. We all know the expression "Like a Snake in the Grass" speaks about tricky back-stabbers. This serpentine expression probably stems from what happens when a snake gets into the grass it becomes very hard to catch, hard to see, and can easily ambush it's prey. Here you are lulled into believing you are looking at just another pretty landscape. Begun in 1982 as an acrylic and finished in 1983 in oil paint, this original "Dot" painting is 44" x 23" in size and needs no frame as it was painted around the edge and employs heavy duty stretcher bars.
