About this work:


I painted this self-portrait when I was in the process of discovering myself, getting to the root of who I am or was. I was feeling defiant as I was trying to be happy with exactly who I was at the time, so in the painting my eyes are saying, "I am myself--deal with it". It was a phase and an important one at that.
