This little guy is a saw whet owl. They are only 5-7" long, but aren't even the smallest owls. I was inspired to draw him after reading that the local raptor center rescued four of them in two months after being hit by cars. They take in injured birds, rehabilitate them, then release them back to the wild if they can.
