This is a hand-made and super complicated landscape painting/drawing with watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil and ink on acid-free Arches French watercolor paper 30" x 22" in size. Begun in the late 1980's with fragments of typefaces, this piece was finally finished in 2002 and shows a tremendous amount of fine detail. Our environment is a very complicated thing and altering it in any way has a trickle down effect and can easily affect other things. We have been letting industry change the planet since the invention of photography in 1837. Since that time, our planet has now become a polluted place and much of it has been destroyed, compared to the way it was before. Native peoples at that time lived in conjunction with the land. Fine Art, since that time, has had the benefit of increasing abstraction, but art made by hand has been under assault ever since that time from more immediate technologies and from the computers that have been somewhat replacing it. Pieces such as this are in direct conflict with the technology that intends to usurp and lessen its power.
