This is a unique Op Art (optical) piece, from my Fishing Series that is glossy ink on a piece of heavy-weight synthetic paper. It may just be about trying to catch fish, or maybe trying to catch big fish, maybe unsuccessfully, or maybe even fishing in winter. It may be about so much more than that though. What does it say to you? It is hard to photograph accurately, and to stare at for a while too! Just glance at it from time to time, as it lights up the room like a red and green Pointsetta plant. It radiates energy from the slight vibrations you see when you glance over at it. Hands come in from the sides trying desperately, (as small fish cruise by floating around the page), to catch the fish. The movement, or glare on the water that you see is an optical illusion. It almost makes you look away and it sure doesn't let you look at it for long. Most times, just being able to see through the water surface is beneficial to the fisherman. Mirror sunglasses do this for people too as you can't look at a persons eyes to see what they are thinking. This electric effect achieved in this artwork is optical and comes from the fine detail in perfect registration vibrating against each other and from it's complementary color set (red and green) that is used in this piece. Polaroid Glare is something you might associate with fishing or fly-fishing while wearing Polaroid sunglasses. The fish pictured as the subject matter in this piece is a Largemouth Bass. It is one of the most highly sought freshwater sport fish in the world, but it could be an icon of fish in general, or it could be a statement of what is going on with our water. It is approximately 19" x 23" in size and super finely detailed with each color in wonderful registration.
