I like the concept but it would be great if the top was a little more interesting, maybe work the grain with a better stain and sand or polish the wood to get the most out of it. Possibly clear coat the wood or even use wood remnants glued together to make an interesting pattern instead of just laying plank of pine on top. Look at some of Nakashima's tables for inspiration and you could charge a hell of a lot more. Good luck.

Good tips and advice! I will definitely do so! I just had some extra wood in my garage and created these as a mini project to show my HS students. I do like your idea a lot better though!! THANKS!
