Birds of Paradise
Original Pastel Painting by Jim Barber Hove on Canson Mis Tientes paper --11.5"x8" (29cmx20cm) --Price includes wooden frame and matting with protective non-glare glass.
I much enjoy working in my garden and tending all of my lovely flowers. I live in a mountainous area in the tropical state of Veracruz, Mexico. Here we have an abundant variety of flowers and the kind that most catches my eye is the "Bird of Paradise". It flowers the whole year round but strangely enough up until now I hadn't taken the time to paint them. I really enjoyed attempting to portray their eccentrically regal posture. They seem to me like a king and queen draped in their royal purple symbolized by the distant mountain.
