Influenced somewhat by Picasso's African period, this work is acrylic and oil paint applied directly from the tube onto the canvas. The skeletal feature of the subject also recalls cubism, while not actually breaking the figure into multiple views, the expressiveness of this image rests in the emotion clearly visible in the face of the figure.
