My art has been deeply inspired by my experiences traveling across the world in the past 15 years. In particular, the cultural diversity and serenity of Asia have largely guided my choices of sceneries, characters and colours.

The HATS series are original oil paintings on framed canvas, in varying sizes and techniques.

The focus of the series is the illuminated Vietnamese hat, a triangular form that represents the practical and traditional elements that define Vietnamese people.

The paintings illustrate the humble beauty of the everyday life of anonymous characters with hidden faces, showing calm moments in their routines and hardships. They are generally in few intense tonalities – blues, reds, yellows - to create a dreamy atmosphere in contrast with the reality of the characters´ everyday existence.

The series also capture both the natural beauty and bustling cities of Asia – lotus flowers, majestic mountains, lush rice fields, and wild tropical storms on the one hand; small eateries in narrow alleys, plastic collectors on the train line and schoolgirls in their áo dàis on the other.
