"Heyli" is the "Dhivehi( maldivian Language)" word means the area of trees bushes grown close to the shore. In Maldives Islands the most common trees grown close to the shore line are screwpine, coconut , magoo( local name), halaveli, etc.. these are a very tough bunch of plants, protect the islands from the monsoon winds and its roaring tides. And also gives shade and homes to a lot of animals and birds... and in inhabited islands folks do various activities around the "heylhi". However this most natural and beautiful part of the islands are been distroyed rapidly for the construction of harbours and jetties and tourist hotels,
