Nina: This work embrace and accentuate the very best characteristics of the combination of Paint & Nina Nikonenko. Your making the relationship between sky and landscape, each as active as the other in similar ways, color being the primary arbiter here. An organic sensability in the way the paint is used (the paint not using you) in rendering tactility that is nothing less than a visual treat. Your painting 'The moorage' is a facinating use of two primary pigments, blue & green, as though a conversation were taking place between the two. The boldness of the green on the bow of the ship momentarily freezes the eye from wandering elseware, daring the viewer to enter and become more than looking, to see all that is offered as a visual experience. I like the more spontaneous feel of the landscapes, understandable in that it is not the same as five minits ago, thereby necessitating a releasing of your intuitive, and confident self. Since my sense about your landscapes seem to indicate the very best of your abilities, I would envision your still-life works to be seen more as landscapes - rather than the classically traditional compositions typical to these works. This doesn't mean I don't like them, I DO, I just think such an approach would make the still-life more yours, thereby lending a distintiveness to these works, while providing a way to move a quantim leap in your visually captivating journey. . . sam
