This JET III digital image is made from an antique photo of the direct ancestor's family mansion in Brooklyn at 549 9th St. It was located on the corner of 9th St. & 4th Avenue, and was later destroyed when the property was made into a subway station. My grandfather told me the story of watching it being torn down when he was a little boy. He was b 1910, d 1995. The original photo print is hand dated 1904. The mansion was moved onto this site sometime in the 19th century, from an earlier location, because you can now see a full wine cellar, that was desired as a basement. The stairs had to be added to get into the house. You can still see the original house, as the top two stories in white with the Greek Ionic columns and in an earlier photograph (see "Original Location").
