Whilst visiting Zakyinthos, my friend and I took a boat trip out to see the Blue Caves which are situated along the west coastline of the island. They are called the Blue Caves for the spectacular blue patches of water that appear in certain parts of the caves, like this one here. According to the captain of our boat no one has ever been able to find out how this natural phenomenon is created in the water, but some scientists believe it is something to do with light entering the caves from beneath the water, or being reflected in there somehow. It's a really amazing site and I was fortunate enough to get this photograph in one of these caves.
