I've seen this painting at a show and it's fabulous. The website doesn't do it justice. Great imagery, great whimsey, and great artwork.

If I had lots of money, i would buy the original painting of this beautiful work and donate it to a Children's hospital ward. Unfortnately, I am not able to do that, but it would be a worthy donation.

About this work:

  • Prints
  • Watercolor
  • 11x14 ($35) 15x20 ($65) ...

Original: 30"x40"
Price: $3,000

Several years ago, I read a verse in the Bible, Matthew 20:16. "So the last will be first, and the first will be last." It was confusing to me until I ran in a race, that was based on time prediction. The one closest to their predicted time won, and no one could wear a watch. I registered for the race at twelve minutes and 36 seconds. The guy that registered me could not stop laughing at my time. He was a runner himself, but did not know that two years before, I had to learn how to walk again after having brain surgery. To make a long story short, I came in dead last.....but I won.
As you look at the picture, you see the turtle smiling at you as he crosses the finish line. You see the rabbit looking at you, saying....."Can you believe it? I know...I learned the first time."
Looking at the border, you can see another race which frames the piece. There is leap frogging going on, turning the corners, and stopping at the bird. You notice the bird in the same position as the monkey (in Last Shall Be First I) gasping at what is taking place.
