About this work:

  • Sculpture
  • Urethane foam, polyester r...
  • 36 x 48 x 36"

Installment “P” of Charismatic Megafauna is Temminck’s pangolin (Manis temmincki). The forms were modeled from scratch from urethane foam over an aluminum armature. Scales were modeled individually in wax, their positions marked on the foam mannequin, and then disassembled and cast individually in polyurethane resin. The resin scales were re-assembled in corresponding order onto the foam mannequins. Each of the two animals possesses about 170 unique scales, and each scale is unique.
