Original Copper Ancient Cross sculpture. The title of this piece is "Atonement " this is an original piece and is made by Hand using only minimal hand tools. The item is made of pure copper which was aged to achive it's many colored Natural Patina then hand hammered and then fired to give it's distinctive colors. No paints are used in the color process. The natural copper colors enhances the dramatic image. The sculpture is then given a special acrylic lacquer coating to protect the colors achived in the firing process. This is a One Of a Kind, meaning I will not make this same sculpture ever again. The piece is signed and dated.

About The artist

Mario Carta, Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina educated in The U.S.A and currenty live in Crystal River, Florida, known as the Nature Coast. I get my inspiration from observing nature up close. I work with copper that is my passion. I love to recreate nature, wildlife and some times ordinary objects in copper . All my art is Original and I only make things once this way I am sure to stay passionate about every piece I create. I use minimal hand tools to create my art. I use no power tools and I do not cast or mold anything. I shape the raw copper by hammering and heating and hammering and heating.....I find this to be the purest form of art where the hands do the work and not machines. I am self taught and consider my ability to create art is a gift from GOD.
