This is a large Expressionistic/Impressionistic oil on linen painting from my Marine Park series. It is 36" x 47.5" in size and was done in the spring of 1989, with medium heavy stretcher bars, hide glue sizing, oil painting primer ground, and a linen support. It features a tan retriever dog reclining on the dunes, basking in the sun. The sandbar and mud flats stretch out directly behind the subject with Jamaica Bay and Coney Island, Brooklyn off in the distance. Actual beach sand was impressed into the freshly laid oil paint, while a large JET flies relatively low overhead.

This dog reminds of my Uncle Jack's dog, Scarmouch. I'm not kidding that was his name actually there were three Scaremouch's they kept running in front of cars out from the field in front of the farm. Your sand dunes remind me of Eastern Michigan's Lake Michigan's Sleepy Bear Dunes.
