Nehi Grape

Things happen to those who put on the glasses, the ones whose frames are black and lenses loose. The lenses are blurred around the rims caused by smudges of model airplane glue (not sold to minors) applied by an unskilled index finger with a blackish crust packed under the nail. On closer inspection the lenses do not match, in fact they are pirated out of other glasses and possibly from different prescriptions. At once when the nose bridge rests atop the nasal ledge the right pupil snaps shut and the left neighbor blows wide open. Nothing seems to happen at first.. no flashes of light or loud popping noises. Instead the senses are struck still and robbed of their imagination, their enhancements. Nothing is known and yet the truth is less false, and the shadow sweeps itself across the unswept floor.
