What a great piece...it draws so many questions. While you explained some of the symbolism, it makes me look at the hangman's noose and the hair being cut in a new light...any reference to Samson having his power stripped away when his hair was cut? Also, when I saw the owl, I immediately thought of the Bohemian Grove and the subtlety of these secret societies. A lot to think about.

About this work:


The man represents a greedy republican, and I represent a democrat. The democrat has lost to a game of chess.. The republican may have cheated just like they did in the last election.
The republican has a 7 of diamonds in his hand representing greed and how Bush often uses god as an excuse for going to war. It is also 7 o'clock. The Moet champagne also represents greed and the cat represents bad luck. The owl in the woodwork is also a demeaning sign.. and the painting in the background is an allusion to what is going on in the picture.. 'An angel being mischievous.'
