I painted this after the sudden , unexpected death of my younger brotherand only sibling. I painted it on birch board, burnt umber gesso (unsanded) using acrylic paint. It is very textured and it was painful spreading the paint onto the gessoed board, it stuck to the highly textured surface. This slow process helped to release some of the pain felt inside.

I can feel the pain here, and I think this is a very powerful painting! You have really done a nice job. I know it was made during a very difficult time for you. I am very sorry for your loss Susan. I will pray for your healing to continue.
