About russianartist:

Impressionistic portraiture, figurative, still life, architectural, landscape, and plein air paintings. Transient light and resulting relationships of color are important, but the defining element in my work is probably brushstroke. My paintings are generally large in size and to achieve life and movement, I paint very fast.

I studied art and design from childhood in Russia, graduating from the Stroganofskaya Academy in Moscow. Founded in 1825, Stroganofskaya is one of Europe's oldest institutions of art, producing some notable professors and graduates (Vassily Kandinsky, etc.) I have exhibited in Russia, Germany and the United States.

While my passion is painting, I am also a capable industrial designer and have designed various products in Russia and the U.S. (35mm cameras, automotive sport wheels, night vision optics, etc.) Living in the U.S., it has been my privilege to paint some very beautiful plein air venues with some very talented American landscape artists. I live and paint in Southern California but my work is deeply rooted in Russian passion for classical impressionism.
