As an artist I would call myself a Romantic Pragmatic Expressionist
The artwork is the more important element; the subject is there to provide a starting point for me to engage with the creative processes, a process which cannot exist without a subject, since it is Impossible to disengage myself from my self
As a "disabled" person I have long been fascinated by the nature of aesthetic values and how I as an artist interpret those values, what is the difference if any between intrinsic and physical beauty? How does one interact with the other, can one exist without the other or is there a point of separation ,if so where or what is it?
As an artist I want to explore what it is that I can add, substitute or ignore in the subject matter that will push the boundaries of the aesthetic, to discover and exploit the point of disconnection while at the same time hold on to the subjects and the artworks integrity. I try and keep studio time down to a minimum so most works are done on site
All works are copywrited Images are the sole ownership of the Artist.
Images may not be used unless permission is granted by the Artist

Penfold: What immediately jumped to mind after viewing your works, and particularly reading your personal introduiction was "The medium is the message". This idea come from one of the foremost thinkers of our time, Marshall McCluhan. His theory is that it is not so much the consious content, but rather the physical and psychological effects the media has on one in the way it become wrappped around the consumer. Your paintings are the media of 'painting', and particularly in four of them: 'Rosedale', 'Rosedale 1', 'Rosedale 2', and 'Village', I become the paint. These works seem to embody the essence of what is paint and a dynamic human effect, which seem to be an endemic point of these works. As you've probably determined by now, I think these works are not only exceptional, but hold some of the answers to objectives articulated in your introduction. Thank you so much for your postings, for I am changed a bit for having seen them (in a good way I think?…sam

What a wonderful portfolio. I particularly like the Rosedale series but so many are truly creative. Powerful. Look forward to more. Chris
