I am an abstract oil painter and literary writer of three books of fiction. I've also worked as a newspaper journalist and a college English professor at several schools. My education includes an MFA from The University of Arizona and a BA from the University of Houston. In 1990 I was awarded a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (U.S.); I've won many other prizes as well.
I lived alone in my studio with my two dogs for almost five years in a small town outside Tucson, Arizona, near the border with Mexico. My hometown is Houston, Texas, but then I've moved thirty-six times in my life and lived in many parts of the country. My home is now Glen Rose, TX.
