About laluque:
My “Canadiana” project is a series of paintings on canvas using oils and collage blending traditional and nontraditional, historical and contemporary Canadian symbols that marry Canadian and immigrant experiences and perspectives into a new, integrated iconography of this country and its people.
I found many of the images while walking around the city. I also researched Canadian contemporary culture and history by going through Goodwill bookshelves. Over a period of months, these images somersaulted in my head until I had the beginning of a series of works that encapsulate my experiences and vision of Canada.
