Cécile Oberlin enjoys the Art of collages since her early childhood. This passion was born with travel brochures that her father brought home. Cécile started by creating virtual Carnets de voyages (Travelogues) and never stopped... every printed source since then became a potential material for the fabric of new paper universes, with no limits in their designs other than her imagination...
She creates directly on canvas, with a mix of various articles, photos and paint as well as virtual photo-montages. Once an original artwork is finished, she selectively will sometimes create limited edition prints.
Her creativity is fuelled by her passion of travelling, avid readings of a wide variety of literature and more generally, her insatiable curiosity toward the world.
She loves to discover works of other artists... lingers around galleries across the globe, and occasionally steals magazines everywhere...it's (one of) her péché mignon.
One of her many artistic passions is to transpose the complexity of a novel into a single design. She does freelance work illustrating books and magazines, mainly for French literature reviews such as Le Magazine des Livres, Les Carnets de la Philosophie, La Presse Littéraire... Her work is currently represented both in private collections and display in public areas.
She is an accomplished self taught artist that keeps her eyes wide open and continues learning from what she sees, experiences and enjoys, allowing her creativity and imagination to drift without boundaries, using mixed media as a medium for her expression.
