Thanks for looking at some of my work. The sunset were taken November 13, 2008 in St. Croix, Virgin Island near an area where you can see " The Wall ". and there is an outdoor bar with tropical fruit drinks. The lime & coconut was my favorite. Marty : )

Hi Joan: Thanks so much for your always encouraging words! I really appreciate the kind sentiments...you are right in observing that most of my recent postings have been photographs (not my preference.) I'm hoping to post new artwork soon...early in March I somehow tore the retina in my right eye, but it has been steady but slow recovery after surgery. I'm really glad that you enjoy the style of my postings...that means a lot, especially from an accomplished artist as yourself! Have a great weekend!

Thankyou very much ! Lucky yes , but im also stubborn , i go to a zoo knowing what i want and willing to stake ot out for a day or two to get it , i never get quite what i want though , never work with kids or animals they say ! sometimes i get much more and this was one of those lucky times . The leopard had seen its mate wake up and that was why it was so intent on what it was doing , and not on me. After i have sat there for a couple of hours and not done anything the animal gets used to me and acts in a more natural manner. Thankyou for liking it !!!

Thanks for your comment, I learned the most by using oil pastels and soft pastels, still use them when I travel. Keep up the good work.

About jfdromey:

I can't remember not knowing how to draw and when I was younger, I drew and painted continuously. Thought about going to art school but didn't know anyone who did fine arts as a hobby never mind a job, so I went to a liberal arts college and took a double major (one in fine arts and one in political science). Thought about taking up political cartooning but I don't have a talent for cartoons.........after college, business and professional pursuits sidetracked any artistic activities. Lived in and around the Boston area, a couple of other parts of New England and currently reside on the South Shore near Cape Cod. For a number of years, I did no artwork at all but about two years ago (for no apparent reason) I decided to start painting again while on vacation. I chose pastels - a medium I had never used much at all - primarily because I love the pure colors of the pigment, they're portable and pretty easy to clean up after. Did about a dozen paintings in three weeks, signed up for a class at the local arts guild when I returned from vacation (so I could learn the medium!) and haven't stopped since.
