Ms Coatsworth is an up and coming New Zealand born artist. Her work studies the human form, using it as a vehicle to communicate emotion. Coatsworth’s art celebrates beauty.
She was one of the organisers of “Matariki: Insiders vs. Outsiders” an evening of art and entertainment to celebrate the māori new year at “The Palace” an alternative arts venue in East London.
“I am inspired by people - not only their forms, but the stories they tell and the way they behave. I enjoy finding new ways of representing the forms I paint, using art to challenge the way I view the world.”
Coatsworth is a long-standing member of Ngāti Rānana: London Māori Club and performs regularly with them.
Coatsworth is also a practitioner of mau taiaha, a martial art from New Zealand. She has achieved the rank of poutoru and teaches in London under the umbrella of Te Whare Tu Taua o Aotearoa.
