Not me:). I have some hesitations about PayPal. Too much scam cames with the request to updated an account and so on. So I don't use it since I opened 3 years ago.

I wonder if people actually really buy art over the internet...? Would you? I certainly wouldn't for a painting

Rosie, it depends. Not always original look better than image. I've had seen both cases.

I've had a few people interested after seeing my work on different sites and I've had a few genuine offers but they've all fallen through at one stage or another. Personally I don't think I'd have too much of a problem buying art via the internet but most pieces I've wanted to buy have been by people I've spoken to for a while and feel as if I can trust them. But I can understand that some people might be nervous about giving someone on the other side of the world money with the promise a painting will arrive in the post sometime in the future.
I wouldn't have a problem using paypal at all

PayPal works for me. Personally, I only offer prints and at the very low end of pricing range. I would never buy an original online, unless I already knew the artist. Cannot imagine people paying some of the prices on many of the items here. One thing is abundantly clear....there are more of us than there are of them(buyers) and if we are the least bit productive, the total inventory out numbers the potential buyers by zillions.

I sell art all over the internet at ebay and sites such as this, plus I sold from my webpage years ago. I take PayPal and Google payments. There isn't a thing wrong with buying art as long as the seller is honest. I insure everything that goes out. My best and nicest customers are from out of the states. I've sold to France, Italy, Belgium, Canada, South America and Mexico. I love selling on the internet.

I've sold a fair bit through eBay & my website, plus my Guild's online shop. I haven't had a single problem with paypal (selling or buying) in about eight years & use it all the time - rule of thumb, just don't ever log in via an email. It will be interesting to see if my stuff sells here, alothough I don't think it's the kind of thing that will!!

Hi everyone.
I just signed up hoping for sales but it seems that this may be yet another artist's networking site, which is also good.
I've sold many paintings over the last few years through http://dailypainters.com
I accept paypal which has worked great for me and I've also built up sales to collectors. I think people are becoming a lot more open to buying art online. It's a new world and the www is a huge part of our world. I recently read an article that stated that if you are an artist without a website your chances of being "found" are remote. It may true in our age.

I congratulate those who can sell their works from internet www. So far I have not had any sales yet from my own website: www.florenceshen .com and neighter do I have any one from artmesh , artbreak and art buy. But I do have enquiry from Saacthi-gallery. Two of them said that they will buy immediately but when told that I am from "SINGAPORE" they did not even bother to reply and one emailed to enquire what is the prsent market of my works that one of their clients that had bought 3 pieces from me years ago. There were two art galleries offering to have my works display for sale at their gallery for a fee.Sometime I do ask myself what is the cause for the rejection? Would really like to know anyone has any idea?

Ria, thanks for the information. Is it free to come in Daily Painters com to display one`s own artworks? Does it function like Artbreak? Hope to read from you.
Florence, Idon^t know why they turned down their own offer. I just think that they were not serious at all. There must be other galleries in this world that have the crediibility and seriousness in making responsible agreements. We only need to find them. Keep on knocking and I am sure the door will be opened at some point in your time.

Thank you Beth for your encouragement, I will not be discouraged just for that and will look out for more places to have my works displayed.Art is very subjective and I love to share with those who are really interested.

I've sold about 150 paintings off my website. (ww.lyonsart.com) Most of these were commissioned portraits. Paypal has been my preferred method for 5 years.

I'm new to Artbreak but have sold over 40 paintings through my blog, ebay and other websites using a paypal account to places such as Canada, all the way to Australlia and haven't had a problem so far. I've also purchased through Paypal. I think by and large, people want to meet the artist and make it personal.. which is the downfall of selling over the internet.

I urge artists to band together and form your OWN galleries! Find a retail spot that is in a busy place that has been neglected and is run down and offer to fix it up in exchange for cheap rent for a year or two. Get a bunch of artists together and get the work done and move in! It is better if the name on the lease is one person and there is one owner, or make it a coop. A friend of mine and I did this ten months ago and I have sold more art than ever before! Hint: have lots of smaller, lower cost items to carry you through lean times.

Addendum to earlier post: Artists would be committed coop members (and thereby take responsiblitly for shop hours and bills but pay no commission, or could choose to just pay commission as a consigner.

hi, well when it comes to the commercial part of Art than appears the difference between real artist`s and those who are just believe in producing for money. I mean do you really think that a Picasso o van Gogh have been interested in selling??? Live as an Artist is hard and poor. What really counts is all them nice Words and Faces of those who honestly like what you created. If you want to sell Art than just become an Agent only cause thats a full time Job where you have to put in all selling skills ever learned. Usually all of us Artists live of an Extra Job, which hard enough stops us of being creative but at the end there has to be something in the fridge. And if it comes to PAY PAL or any other offer to do Business or Money Transfers, hey...if you want to buy Art, than you want to get to know the Artist personally if she / he is alive. Its Emotions you buy of an Artist, its not just Decorations or some Picture, its the heart, the smile, the warm welcome and honest friendship you may allowed to take away to your House. Anyway, anybody is welcome to contact me, specially when interested in coming to visit me and share Life for some special moments. A BIG HUG from Tenerife Spain
