Hello to all fellow artists and art lovers world wide! What an exciting site this is...such amazing art and artists and I am happy to be a part of it.
************************************************
Artist Statement :
I believe an Artist IS an Artist... meaning there is an inherently different VIEW of the world that must be expressed in order to be true to oneself. I believe that Art often finds many expressions through one individual. I believe Art is for all, and not something relegated to a certain strata of society. I believe Art can affect peoples' hearts and minds in ways nothing else can. I believe rt is all around us at any moment ... if we open our eyes and LOOK. So what IS this thing called art ?
(Definition)
"the beautiful or thought-provoking works produced through creative activity." -Encarta Dictionary
Although my work varies in mediums and forms, there are some underlying unifying threads. Imagination, humor, accessibility. An off-beat look at common objects and materials is what is interesting me right now. The effect of living in the North Beach area of San Francisco over the last two years has influenced my current work. Wherever I would walk, I started seeing interesting objects - along
the streets, along the beach, along the highways! I started really delving into found objects and materials and soon it seemed everywhere I looked I "saw" the possibility of art. I hope that by viewing my works you will begin to see the art that is around you
daily as well. All of my activities in art have but one purpose:
To enliven, uplift , inform and illuminate the viewer so as to move them to positive action.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born into a family of generations of painters, Christopher Callen was raised in a home environment that included Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Ceramics, as well as the Performing Arts. A woman, Ms. Callen, was named Christopher for the Patron Saint of Travelers and it turned out to be a prophetic name.
Her father was a writer and director and her mother, as well as being an artist , was the youngest member of the Ruth St. Denis-Ted Shawn avant garde Modern Dance troupe. Music was played constantly ...all sorts of music. And dances in the living room took place at the drop of a hat. Miss Callen always excelled in her Artwork and found it to be her joy and sometimes refuge in a large and lively family of 8 children. Christopher has studied art in New York City, Des Moines, and Tokyo, where she resided for 2 years.
An accomplished professional actress and singer as well, she can be found in “Who’s Who in American Musical Theatre". Her work in Movies, TV, Cabaret & on Broadway has brought her to 36 countries around the Globe. It is this love and opportunity of travel - in meeting people of all races, creeds and cultures - that has infused her art as well as her heart with the experience of knowing that all of us are World Citizens. It is this deep understanding that we are all one human family that inspires her in all of her artistic endeavors to create art that informs, enlivens, uplifts and moves people to positive action.
