About back2basic:

Constantly dubbed by the local contemporary art scene as “Enigma” or “The Social Illusionist”, Jon Jaylo redefines the universal concept of surrealism into an innovation that’s something much closer to symbolic narratives encrusted with a hodgepodge of social revolutionist ideologies and the poetic display of man’s unbounded struggle within the inner demons lurking beneath the confines of his own soul. Basically, most of his present works poses a glimpse not only in man’s inner conflict of good and evil, but also of a subtle revolution from his country’s present declining system. He strongly believes that in these modern times, where not much of the people relies on books for knowledge and information, a certain domain of visual arts such as painting generates a more instantaneous effect than a mere hardbound novel.According to Jaylo, the invisibility of the physical form connotes the general concept of universality. His works are faceless because it could be everyone, regardless of status, gender, and race. And in addition to this, the artist deems that the presences of three common elements in his recent works of art are evidently existent in all of us: Sorrow, Deception, and Sin. And through these inevitable human anomalies, he poses an anti-thesis with his revolutionary paintings, not only against the flow of the system, but to everyone who has perpetrated and abused it for their own selfish benefits. Contrary to the dormant, time-frozen state of his paintings, he wants movement. He wants to rekindle the hearts of his viewers from their respective slumbers of social delusion. Being a keen observer and translator of reality, he wants change. He wants to share inspiration, knowledge, and a treasury of life’s lessons. Jon Jaylo’s art is definitely not just a revolution to the modern arts scene, but indeed, it is a revolution against the triumph of evil in man.
