Dear Annette, Thanks for your comments. I'm not religious, but In the Beginning was based on the Big Bang theory. Chris

About annettefoat:

My name is Annette Foat. I graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design with a BFA. I've been an artist for 20 years I call myself a figurative artist and my work has changed and evolved throughout the years. With this series of paintings I started working in an idiopathic way meaning I started from nothing and let things rise spontaneuosly from the obscure.

I'm trying to bring all the pictorial complexities down to a very basic cognitive idea. The figure is broken down to the most simplest form and becomes very abstruse when it interplays with the effect of light and shadows. The space is as minimal as the figure and thus we become aware of the play of two and three dimensional space. Color acts as both space and light. Reluctant to clearly define the figure because more interested in the light that transcends us. Think we try to look beyond the rational and intellectual for something that defies all our expectations. In our soul searching we hope to find something that defines us or unites us.
