In the mid fifties Linda was born with artistic talent which was readily evident as a child. Growing up as an “air force brat” she traveled extensively across Canada, where as a working adult, eventually settled in Alberta. She studied Art at Red Deer College and then The University of Calgary. Although life’s paths and endeavors took her in many directions, her passion for art was never lost. With a new sense of purpose, Linda now devotes herself fulltime to her art.
Artist statement
Art is a way of life and I create 24 hours a day…maybe not holding a brush, but by seeing, thinking and feeling. When not physically painting, I am visiting galleries, reading art books, working on marketing tools and being a photographer. Looking at the world as one huge canvas enables me enough passion and inspiration to fill a lifetime.
I tend to work in a series, producing many works of the same subject matter or technique. However, having a short attention span, this may only last a few months. I find myself experimenting with my creativity and constantly changing and evolving, a necessity for my growth and avoiding the pitfalls of boredom.
Being a prolific artist, my technique tends to be very intuitive. I paint with great enthusiasm and abandon. My tools are as diverse as my subject matter. I may begin with an idea but eventually I let the painting tell me what to do. My work tends to be impressionistic and although still representational, incorporates elements of abstraction. I paint whatever evokes emotion, or stimulates my sense of passion, whether it be a beautiful landscape, a certain situation or a simple shape

Hello Linda Thank you for favouriting 'Fen reeds' I am glad you like it. We appear to have something in common in that we both are or were 'air force brats' in our youth :o)
