About Kirk:

I've been a freelance artist since 1978 after studying at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I started drawing at a really young age and art's always been in my blood!

My commercial work is focused on caricatures, cartooning, and detailed house illustrations for realtors and private homeowners, but I can draw or paint almost anything. I've done many political cartoons, paintings, portraiture, posters, greeting cards, and LP and CD covers. I used to work for a handful of realtors and did over 50 house illustrations for them every week, so I became accustomed to working very quickly with pen and brush. It's no surprise that I still turn work around very quickly!

For the last few years, I have been hired each month to portray the subject of the Q & A column of the "After Dark" newsletter published by Coast to Coast AM. This column focuses on people who investigate paranormal, supernatural, and other unusual phenomena, and it's been great fun to work for them given my interest in old horror and sci-fi movies!

I also offer private art lessons in my studio to people of any age. I focus on comic book art, caricature, cartooning, and traditional animation, but have taught students in a variety of other areas, too. I've also filmed a series of shows called "In the Studio" that appeared on local television, showcasing various art tips and demonstrating how I work.

Starting around 2000, I took my teaching online and now offer lessons to anyone in the world thanks to e-mail and video conferencing. If you're interested in lessons, please contact me anytime!

I'm always open for commissions. Please get in touch if there is a special piece you would like and I'd be happy to discuss it with you. Be sure to check out my web site, also.

Keep drawing!

~Kirk
