About Kara-Kotsya:

Lesya Kara-Kotsya is a Ukrainian artist, who is known to have invented a new style in contemporary fine art, called karakoko.

She has also created new fairy-tale creatures Khobotarkas, depicted in Lesya Kara-Kotsya''s book "Khobotarkas adventures. Resquing the Spring Sun". Three solo exhibition were devoted to Khobotarkas'' adventures, travels and chronicles.

BIOGRAPHY

Lesya Kara-Kotsya (Olesya Karakotsya) was born on the 9th of May, 1978, in Moscow, where her parents came for studies. Very soon the family moved back to Ukraine.


1995-1999 – Lesya studied at the State College of Light Industry (artist-designer of leather goods). Kyiv, Ukraine.


Then she was a teacher of drawing, painting and history of arts at the State College of Light Industry.


1999-2006 – Lesya studied at the National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture (theory and history of art-criticism). Topic of diploma work: “Portrait Coins of Ukraine of 1995-2006”. Kyiv, Ukraine.


Lesya Kara-Kotsya has taken part at more than 30 exhibitions, nine of which are all-Ukrainian, there are 15 solo exhibitions, three international festivals and others.

In the VII International Festival of Underwater Image “Silver Shark (2007, Kyiv, Ukraine) she got a grand prix in nomination “Fine Art” for her painting “Game Odyssey of Cousteau”.

Lesya Kara-Kotsya''s paintings belong to private collections in France, Poland, the USA, Danemark, the UK, Ireland, Russia and Ukraine.
