As a fine arts major, I received instruction in all disciplines offered - except painting - sculpture in clay, wood and stone, drawing, and photography. Painting has been self-taught and photography was at first, only used for reference for my paintings. I prefer a mixed media of acrylic and pastels, but have done countless paintings in gouache, watercolor and oils. With the emergence of the digital age, for the past several years, I have concentrated on photography and printing as an artistic medium. Now I am gravitating back to oils, somewhat, with underpaintings of acrylics. Just recently, I have been experimenting in the realm of digital art. I can't help but wonder if the "masters" had had access to cameras and computers, if they would have ever picked up a paint brush and pallette.
